Summer Session

Upward Bound participants spend six weeks at Cornell University engaged in an academically focused curriculum designed to increase their skill base and broaden their view of potential college majors and career choices. In addition to four core classes (Composition/Literature, Math, Lab Science & Foreign Language) our students are exposed to various aspects of college life. They also perform community service, attend college visits, and engage in other culturally enriching programming designed to provide inspiration and increase their love of learning.

Rising seniors will have the opportunity to create their own summer experience by blending academic workshops focused on skill development and college applications with summer employment, internships, or other academic and career based programs. Beginning in the spring, current Juniors will work with Upward Bound staff to design their summer calendar in the effort to have meaningful experiences and preparation support for their college applications as they rise into their final year of high school.

Upward Bound rising sophmores and juniors scholars are required to commit to a six-week college preparatory program geared to academically challenge, personally stretch and individually develop our students into realizing their potentials as a college bound student.
