College Readiness and Mentorship

  • Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)- AVID tutors support college access and preparation curriculum in classrooms at Ithaca High School. For more information contact pscprek12@cornell.edu.
  • Big Red Buddies- Buddies volunteer as reading buddies and teacher helpers at Bright Horizons Child Care Center and at Greater Ithaca Activities Center. For more information contact pscprek12@cornell.edu.
  • TST BOCES Career Skills- Volunteers meet with a group on campus either Monday, Wednesday, or Friday mornings to support high school students with development disabilities in gaining career and life skills. For information contact pscprek12@cornell.edu.
  • Early College Awareness (ECA)- ECA strives to inform middle school students from less advantaged schools about the benefits of college. For more information contact pscprek12@cornell.edu
  • Encourage Young Engineers & Scientists- Volunteers are trained at monthly G-body meetings on how to teach a lesson in science and engineering, and bring lessons to area schools. For more information contact pscprek12@cornell.edu.
